AGARTALA, Oct 30 (TIWN): Onion Prices skyrocketed to Rs. 70 to Rs. 100 in Tripura, Potato Prices at Rs. 60 whereas the wholesale market members alleged about 'Illegal Charging' by local markets. Expected Onion Price should be Rs. 63, Potato Rs. 44. With massive price hikes, onion prices have hiked to Rs. 70 to Rs 100 in some places of Tripura whereas potato prices are at Rs. 60 now. This has been cutting public pocket when commodity prices are at rise in all spheres. Whole sellers said that Govt must control the price because the normal market's sellers can't take more than Rs. 5 than the whole sale rates from the customers, but they are doing it illegally. Today, if whole sale rate of onion is only Rs. 58, how the shop-keepers are charging Rs. 80 and sometimes Rs. 100 in various places ?, asked a whole-seller.
One wholesale market member said, "In wholesale, Onion Price is Rs. 58 and Potato Rs. 38 or Rs. 39. But, Govt must control the Local markets which are charging even Rs. 100 for onion per kilo illegally".
