AGARTALA, Oct 18 (TIWN): South Tripura Bus owner syndicate called for strike from today regarding the inconveniences the bus owners are facing during this Covid-19 pandemic. No buses from Nagerjala kicked off with passengers today. The bus owners are facing huge losses in their business since the starting of Covid crisis. Whereas other State governments are bearing the losses causing from maintaining the safety majors, Tripura Govt is only circulating notification to run the vehicles with 50% of passengers without bearing the massive loss that the bus owners are facing.

While addressing media regarding today's bus strike, one owner said," We are running on loss since last few months. As we have to run the buses with 50% of passengers but with same amount of fuel and workers, we are facing loss on everyday basis. After seeing this massive loss our bus owner committee and BMS decided to run buses with two persons in two pairing seats. But the office of Chief secretariat has circulated a notice a day back, stating that the bus owners have to maintain the social distance norms and have to run buses with 50% of passengers."

"If the situation continues like this then we wouldn't be able to bear the cost any more and we have to stop the bus services till there is any proper notice circulated from the government, keeping our problem in mind. Other states are bearing the amount of this loss then why our govt is not taking any step to solve our problem?" The owner added.
