AGARTALA, Oct 5 (TIWN): Along with the whole nation, Tripura Congress too has observed 'Satyagraha' in demand of justice for Hathras rape victim. A day after Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met the family of the Hathras victim, the party announced it will stage ‘satyagraha’ in the district headquarters of states across the country on Monday to demand justice for them.
As per the schedule, the Tripura Congress also held the same programme in state Tripura. In capital city Agartala before Rajiv Gandhi's statue at the State Congress headquarter, this protest was staged led by Congress State President Pijush Biswas. “We are organising silent Satyagraha sit-in against the brutal and arbitrary actions of the UP Government, demanding justice for the 19 years old victim and her family,”, said Pijush Biswas.
"PM Modi through his attitude has downed India's image to the world. We have no word to condemn the PM's attitude", said Pijush Biswas. “The brutal gangrape and murder of a Dalit girl from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh has shaken the conscience of the nation,” Biswas said. He alleged that the “casual and cavalier attitude” in taking cognisance of her complaints and delay in providing her immediate medical attention “smacks of attempts at brushing under the carpet” as well as “complicity” on part of the UP administration.
