AGARTALA, Aug 28 (TIWN): The Congress party on Friday launched a nationwide campaign against the Central government's decision to conduct NEET and JEE main exams, with Rahul Gandhi urging people to speak up for the safety of students amid the coronavirus pandemic.Along with the whole nation, in Tripura also, massive protests were staged voicing for students futures. NSUI also organized protests statewide. The Congress workers hit the streets to protests against the government's decision to conduct the entrance exams. However, the members of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) were detained by police in various cities across the country during the protests.While speaking at the protest in Agartala, Congress leaders said that "If we keep raising the matter, Centre will have to consider the demands of people and postpone JEE-NEET examinations."
"In line with concerted opposition to this mindless and dictatorial move of the central government, Congress will be holding protests on Friday at 11 am in front of central government offices at state and district headquarters. They will oppose the decision of the government to hold these exams during the pandemic," Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said in a statement on Thursday.
