AGARTALA, November 27 (TIWN): As part of the country wide celebration of the “National Milk Day” on the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien on November 26, best known as “The Father of The White Revolution” and also founder of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited, brand AMUL, the Agartala branch of GCMMF Ltd. Celebrated the day with some social responsibilities at Agartala Press Club, here today.

On the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, GCMMF Ltd Agartala branch has celebrated the day by distributing milk to children of Nirmala Shishu Bhavan in Bhuddha Mandir area. Later, the GCMMF Ltd Agartala branch distributed gifts to the children of Naba Prantik orphanage home in Amtali.

The GCMMF family in Agartala as part of the week long birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, on November 27 organized a voluntary blood donation camp at Agartala Press Club and members of the Amul family donated blood to serve the humanity and to save patients fighting with critical diseases.

Verghese Kurien came to be known as the Father of White Revolution after his pioneer in increasing milk production in the country was a success. His project called ‘Operation Flood’ was the world’s biggest agricultural development programme. It was his initiative which helped India in becoming the largest milk producer of the world.  Later on, he also helped the country become self sufficient in edible oils. His works have helped millions get daily livelihood means and is known across the globe for such a commendable initiative.
