AGARTALA, Aug 18 (TIWN): Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) in a press conference on Tuesday alleged that Tripura government has brought changes in Factories Act which is completely anti-labor.
Addressing the media one CITU leader said, "BJP led Tripura government on 14 August have taken a decision in cabinet that Factories Act will not be imposed on a industry till it completes 1000 working days. This is completely against the wellbeing of workers. We strongly condemn this decision of anti-labor BJP government."
"Previously, to impose the Factories Act an industry that uses electrical machines had to have 10 or more worker, and for a industry with manual function had to have 20 and above workers. But now the present Tripura govt have changed the number into 20 and 40 accordingly. Such anti-labor changes amid Covid-19 pandemic is completely unacceptable. In a situation of crisis when the Covid-19 positive cases are increasing repeatedly and people are starving without food, the state government is introducing such changes instead of helping it's own people in this dire situation," added the leader.
