Agartala, Nov 26 (TIWN): Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), state unit office today organized the 4th state level painting competition on water conservation at Pragna Bhavan. Chief Engineer of PWD (WR)- Tapan Lodh inaugurated the art competition and also unveiled the theme “Save a drop, save the future” of state level art competition.

With the initiative of Union Ministry for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, the state level painting competition was conducted involving the school students of 6th, 7th and 8th standards from different schools of Tripura.

This nationwide painting competition is organized every year for the school going children with an endeavour to spread the awareness on the need of water conservation and to create a spirit among the children as well as their parents and neighbours too.

Altogether 356 paintings of 120 different schools of Tripura were received from the school level competition. All the paintings were judged and the best 50 paintings were selected for competing in state level by a board of jury members. “Save water, live better” was the theme for school level competition.

All the participants were offered incidental money of Rs. 1000, some gift items along with drawing materials and TA for to and fro journey from their home to the venue for three persons including their parents for appearing in this competition today.

The first, second and third place acquiring candidates will get cash prize of Rs. 10000, Rs. 8000 and Rs. 5000 respectively. Moreover, there will be consolation prizes worth Rs. 1000 for each. The first, second and third place acquired candidates will be sent to New Delhi for participating in national level painting competition. Minister for GA (Printing and Stationery)- Manindra Reang, Chief Engineer of PWD (DWS)- BK Debbarma and Grade C scientist of CGWB- SM Hossain will attend the prize distribution ceremony function.
