MANDAI (Jirania), Aug 17 (TIWN): Amid the much hyped Hira-Plus Governance, under the BJP Govt in state, Tripura rural areas’ realities have remained horrifying and sufferings for the common men are unending, led them to stage a massive road blockade on National Highway at Madai-Teliamura constituency on Monday as the people there are deprive of pure drinking water for a long time. Due to the blockade, public suffering increased, administration rushed to the spot to control. MLA cum Deputy Speaker of Tripura Assembly Biswabandhu Sen also stuck in the blockade, expressed resentment over the road blockade alleging ‘public suffering’ who are stuck on road. The agitating public’s demands however are also valid as this area is deprive of drinking water facility, dependent upon water-body’s dirty water for a long time. They said that their drinking water’s only source is a stream in the area but for last 3 months Thamting area’s new gas-point’s leakage has caused dirty water flows which has turned the water “unusable” for them.

As no action was taken, the locals were bound to block the road causing hundreds of vehicles remained stranded there.

For 2 hours the blockade continued and then OC-Jirania PS, SDPO, ONGC staffs and SDM rushed to the spot and assured the villagers about solving their problems. After that the blockade was withdrawn.
