AGARTALA, Aug 17 (TIWN): CPI-M in a press conference declared that Tripura's BJP led government has decided to increase the electricity tariff again amid Covid-19 pandemic.
On Monday, CPI-M top leaders in a press conference said that the Biplab Deb Government, without discussing in Assembly, placed a proposal to Electricity Regulatory Commission for increasing the Electricity tariff in state.
While addressing media CPI-M State Secretary said, "Previously they have imposed 5% duty on consumers having 400 rupees bill, which is completely irrational. The state has never experienced such burden of Tax before. And now in this world pandemic when people are suffering with extreme crisis and the government has failed to provide proper economic help, they are planning to hike the price of electricity bill again."
The leader also claimed that the Electricity department of the state has enough amount in their bank deposit, which they can use in the needed time.
Claiming the decision as completely irrelevant, the CPI-M party has demanded immediate withdrawal of the proposal from Electricity Regulatory Commission.
