Agartala, November 26 (TIWN): As part of the decision of All India CPI (M) party, a two hour long sit-in-demonstration was organized by the CPI (M) state unit near Vivekananda Stadium regarding MGNREGA issue, here today.

Coming down heavily on Central Government State Secretary of CPI (M) Bijon Dhar said that the NDA led central government is planning to kill the people of the state by snatching employment from them. The central government did not provide sufficient fund to the state, he added.

In the financial year 2012-13, the state stood first among the 28 Indian states for having provided each enrolled person 87 days of work a year on an average. Now, as the financial year 2013-14 ended on March 31, Tripura was way ahead of other states again by providing the same number of days of work per person in a year, as it had done earlier, Bijhon Dhar mentioned. But now the central government is planning to curtail MGNREGA scheme, he added.

Both Congress and BJP have gone on the path of abandoning India’s independent foreign policy and placing the country hostage to the interests of USA. Similarly, both the national parties have competed with each other as far as corruption is concerned. Where there are instances of the 2G, 3G scams under the Congress, there are also the examples of the Yedurappa scams under the BJP, Dhar added.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre is proving to be a total failure like its Congress-led predecessor in controlling the rise in price of essential commodities, Dhar said.

Dhar also accused the BJP of duping people after coming to power by promising swift interventions in controlling price rise. According to Dhar, the farm sector was the worst-hit in the last six months of the NDA rule, which was driven by communal forces. He alleged that there was no let up in the rate of farmers’ suicide in the country. “Only by taking some productive steps, would the farming community survive. Here, we have a government which is least interested in such measures,” said Dhar. The government also failed to strengthen the Public Distribution System and bolster the Essential Commodities Act for the benefit of the common man, he mentioned.

It is to be mentioned here that CPIM and its Party organs regulary complain about Central Govt's stepmotherly attitude, lack of commitments, lack of funding to State, however documentary evidence suggests otherwise even though State and CPIM machinery continues slogan of deprivation by Centre. CAG audit report finds failure in utilization of 28.74% of budget allocation for 2012-13 fiscal. Tripura under leadership of Manik Sarkar is not even able to spend the existing Central allocated money for various projects. Deprivation by Central Govt to Tripura is an absloutely baseless lie as Central Govt showering money in excess to Tripura which Tripura is unable to spend.

Among them, leaving the Labour Organisaztion and PGP and TRP department, all the 16 departments failed to expense and utilize the budget allocation. In this report, CAG further raises questions on different works implemented by these departments and indicated the loopholes and remedies which will be brought to the readers shortly. In this report, it is clear that among 4,970.55 cores, only 3,541.91 crores are expensed.
