AGARTALA, Aug 9 (TIWN): CPI-M’s massive protest programme today was organized under the CITU, Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) and other unions but the protest was boxed by huge numbers of police deployed by the Biplab Deb Govt. CPI-M was in silent protest with banners, following social-distancing but huge police were sent to stop the protest. The CPI-M raised slogan, “Bharat Bachao, Manush Bacho, Desh Bachao, Corporate Hataao, Modi Hataao, BJP Hataao”. All the agitators were detained by police later. Addressing media, Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) President Jitendra Choudhury said, “Today, the whole country is undergoing severe crisis. The Govt led lockdown was unprepared. Poor are suffering without food, works and the blame goes the Govt only". “In this situation, when we are raising our voice, police are used as technique to suppress the voices. But police mechanism can not stop our protest. Today, country is independent but lots of problems have gripped the country. Against them, we have to raise our voices. Our protest is not against the country but the against the Govt. We will continue protest. Today people are unable to raise voices, whereas rapists and criminals are at their paradise and the crime spree on air”, he added.

“In Centre, Modi Govt is working to lock the people, suppress voice and in Tripura, the Biplab Deb Govt is doing its Tana-Sahi”, Jitendra Choudhury told media.

Ironically, when Police are taking action against opposition parties, it has miserably failed to take action against BJP, IPFT for gathering. IPFT recently led by a Cabinet Minister attended a joining programme with around 500 people without maintaining social distancing at Dhupchara but no police dared to stop the gathering amid COVID-19 rules imposed.
