AGARTALA, Aug 7 (TIWN): Huge numbers of ST students today protested for their pending scholarship for which they are almost at the edge of being dropout in various colleges. Today, a group of students met the higher authority of the Tribal Welfare dept seeking their pending scholarships. Talking to media, the students said, “Around 50% of the students are not getting their scholarships.
In the last month, the Director of the Tribal Welfare Dept has assured us to clear the pending scholarship but till now, nothing happened. As a result, we are bound to come here to meet the Director again. Above 23,000 students have not received their scholarship yet. From 2017 the scholarships are pending for few students and in same way, 2018, 2019 are too included in the list”.
