AGARTALA, Aug 5 (TIWN): A Doctor has been suspended in Tripura Bhagat Singh COVID-19 Care Centre after MLA Sudip Barman visited the COVID-19 Care Centre to distribute foods among the patients and forced the Doctor on duty to provide PPE kits to him. The suspended Doctor is Uttam Kumar Bhattacharjee. In a statement, MLA Sudip Barman said, “On 2nd August, I visited COVID-19 Care Centre. After my visit, the Doctor was suspended with allegation of being forced to give PPEs to me by neglecting his duties. If I did mistake, why the Doctor should be punished ? Doctors, Medical staffs are the front line warriors. This is incorrect to break their confidence like this. I demand immediate withdrawal of the Govt’s decisionâ€.The state govt earlier ordered MLA Sudip Barman to go for institutional quarantine but he denied as quarantine is for only COVID-19 patients.
Sudip Barman had visited the care centre, after duty in negligence was alleged in viral social media videos when a pregnant woman cried in live video seeking Govt’s help.
