TIWN July 20, 2020

AGARTALA, July 20 (TIWN): People across India are celebrating Shravan or Sawan. Shravan is considered as one of the most important month in the Hindu calendar. In Agartala, devotees offered prayers in temples, although due to COVID-19, this year no gathering was witnessed in state's temple.
This year, Shravan had started on July 6 and will continue till August 3. Shravan has special significance to Lord Shiva and several festivals like Krishna Janmashtami, Raksha Bandhan, Naryal Poornima and Nag Panchami are celebrated in this month.
People across the country also observe fast in Shravan, especially on Mondays, to impress Lord Shiva – one of the Trinity in the Hindu religion. On the other hand, several people also observe fasts on Tuesday which are known as “Mangala Gauri Vrat”.
