Agartala, Nov 23 (TIWN): Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tripura, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 8-Town Bordwali Mondal Committee today staged a cleanliness drive at Santipara, As part of Swachchha Bharat Abhiyan.

Over 50 BJP leaders, workers and supporters have participated in the cleanliness drive. Besides, BJP state secretary- Tapas Bhattacharjee and BJP Yuva Morcha state president- Kamal Roy also attended the cleanliness drive.

During the drive, BJP Bordwali Mondal Committee cleaned the different places of Santipara. The cleanliness drive was carried out from 8 am till 10 am, this morning. Earlier the committee had staged many other places in the capital city- Agartala.

It is to be mentioned here; the goal is to achieve Swachh Bharat by 2019, by improving the levels of cleanliness in rural areas and making Gram Panchayats Open Defecation Free (ODF).

According to Census 2011, only 32.70 percent of rural households had access to toilets. According to a UN report released this year, India continues to have the largest number of people in the world defecating in the open.

Keeping Narendra Modi’s initiative in mind to free country from litter and rubbish, BJP would keep conducting this kind of drive as part of Swachchha Bharat Abhiyan, said BJP 8- Town Bordwali Mondal Committee president- Jayanta Dey.
