AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): Tripura Congress has Gheraoed West Agartala Police Station on Monday in protest against SDPO Shashvat Kumar led arrest of Congress leader Narayan Dutta on Janata Curfew day on Monday, husband of AMC Councilor Ratna Dutta without any reason. The party gheraoed West Agartala PS, with banners of ‘Tripura Police carry BJP flag’. While briefing media, Congress Tripura President Pijush Biswas said, “On yesterday Narayan Dutta, Sadal Jila President was arrested by police when he went out of home. The SDPO is suffering from intolerance. He is thinking that as he is an IPS Officer, thus he can do anything, but that is not the reality. Many officers were punished for their such attitudes.

Moreover, this is not the first incident that Congress leaders, workers were mistreated by police like this but many times, such incidents have led us to stage this protest. A Police’s power is subjected to limitation. He has no right to abuse the people, harass the people". 

“Earlier, many times earlier it happened that police officer is injured while stopping protest but police showed their tolerance, never lathi-charged. But now, police are abusing people like anything”, Pijush Biswas told media.

“Mujibar Islam, a top leader who was standing before his home was attacked by police”, said Biswas.

“When SDPO is there, people should feel safe. But here SDPO himself is creating problems. He has to remember that he would not be labeled as a criminal, because if he misuse power, abuse people, then definitely he is Criminal”, said Pijush Biswas. Pijush Biswas is also an experienced lawyer in state.

“How to fix such police officials legally, we know it very well”, said Biswas.
