AGARTALA, July 2 (TIWN): Tripura Congress has staged a massive protest against Modi Govt move to withdraw security and Govt accommodation from Priyanka Gandhi amid the family is carrying blood of Freedom Fighter, India’s first PM Jawwharlal Nehru. The Gandhi family also has seen worse consequences of being a member of the family in the Independent India after Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi had lost their lives in service to the nation after extremists killed them. When nationwide Congress is protesting against BJP’s political narrow revenge against Gandhi family, BJP has claimed that this ‘Family Based Politics’ should not be tolerated in Independent India. In reaction, Tripura Congress President Pijush Biswas has said that it is clear that to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, China is not at all a threat, rather the biggest threat is Gandhi family.

Congress burnt effigy of Modi and Amit Shah in front of Congress Bhawan and raised slogan of "Shame, Shame".

The protest has erupted after Govt has asked Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, daughter of party chief Sonia Gandhi, to vacate her government accommodation within a month as she is no longer in the list of Special Protection Group (SPG).

The decision was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Accommodation after the government stripped the Gandhi family of protection by the Special Protection Group. She was allotted the Lodhi Estate bungalow in 1997 on the recommendation of the SPG.  Priyanka Gandhi still has the Z+ security cover but this category does not entitle protectees to government accommodation unless the cabinet committee approves the exception on the recommendation of the home ministry. The home ministry didn’t see any reason to make an exception for her, people familiar with the development said.

An official said she has accumulated dues of Rs 3.46 lakh and has also been asked to clear the dues.
