AGARTALA, July 1 (TIWN): Tripura’s biggest Govt hospital GB hospital faced serious troubles as over 80 Doctors have gone in Strike for indefinite period. Their strike to be continued till they are paid off their pending salaries. As a result, the hospital services are heavily hampered. An intern Doctor said, “We need 2 months pending wages with list and if we are not given our moneys then, we will not work. We are 75 in numbers and more extra persons (few more Doctors as per claim) are not getting pays for 2 months. If the Govt can not pay off to such a little number of staffs, then what is the use of the Govt here ? This is our final decision that till we are not paid, we will not work”.When media asked, whether the hospital will be under crisis without them, they said, “Ofcourse there will be crisis but let them also acknowledge our problems. It important to work in COVID-19 but payments are also important as Govt has not given us PPE and we don't have moneys to buy".

After Health Minister Sudip Barman's sacking on 31st May, 2019 by Chief Minister Biplab Deb,Tripura's Health Ministry went into doldrums as no fulltime Health Minister was appointed to take care of problems.

“This is COVID-19 period that is fact but how should we live ? Don't Doctors deserve that limited pay also ? We have waited for 2 months right ??? But, now it is impossible to bear own expenses, neither we will seek moneys from families, as we are enough old to bear own expenses”, the agitators said in reply to media questions.

Ironically, today is National Doctor's Day in India when Tripura's Doctors are suffering in crisis but Tripura Govt has assured about a 'Model State' by next few months.
