AGARTALA, Nov 20 (TIWN): Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) today claimed a successful Tripura Bandh. The shops and markets remained closed in the state and vehicles were off the roads across the state except Santirbazar, Belonia and Dhamcherra subdivision.

Many picketers were arrested from different parts of the state but released after wards, police said.

Opposition leader Sudip Roy Burman had announced a state wide bandh today against the clash between police and Congress activists during the civil disobedience launched by the party to protest against the rampant corruption by cadres of the ruling CPI-M and demanded resignation of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

Talking to the media persons opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman today raised a finger towards the role police and said that the police had played a role on behest of the CPI (M). Mr. Barman also alleged that during the picketing at Dhamcherra area under Panisagar Constituency one congress supporter Kamalesh Sinha (62) had been killed on CPI (M) cadre attack whereas 7 others left hospitalized. Whereas according to the police Nakul Sinha died due to cardiac arrest while picketing at 7.30am at Narendrapur are.

Besides talking to TIWN, CPI (M) state secretary Bijan Dhar claimed that most of the rural parts of the state remained open today and everything remained normal. He also claimed that the life at Santirbazar, Belonia and Dhamcherra subdivision remained normal today.

But today’s Tripura Bandh called by the congress had badly paralysed the life of the capital city as the schools and colleges, offices, transportation system, shops and markets remained closed.

However, it is to be mentioned here that the congress protest against the police lathi charge on them during the civil disobedience movement, corruptions, scams, and atrocities on women did achieved a grand success today during the 12 hours dawn to dusk strike called by the opposition congress.

On the other taking every issues and allegation against them very lightly the CPI (M) has been playing a role of a silent spectator. And a very worried situation of the CPI (M) could be witnessed during the congress civil disobedience movement when deep necked in corruption Manik Sarkar- the so called Mr. White escaped to Guwahati, congress alleged.

A huge police team along with its special forces had been deployed infront of the West Agartala Police Station from morning onwards today to prevent any untoward incidents.
