AGARTALA, November 20 (TIWN): Thousands of posts reserved for SC & ST are still lying vacant in different departments of the State Govt , as per the list submitted by the State Government. "Was Advocate General Bijan Kanti Das informed about that or not?" Chief Justice Deepak K Gupta asked this while presiding over the Hearing of the full bench of HC in the exceptional Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Reservation and Promotion case. As these posts can be kept vacant only for a limited period, and not for decades, the case must be sorted out soon .However, Advocate General of Tripura has failed to provide any concrete answer it in the 1st Session in High Court. He is likely to make his point clear in the 2nd Session. It is to be mentioned here that, the State Government had submitted a list where 35,000 vacant posts for SC/ST still exist. On the other hand, Chief Justice also urged not to make this matter politicized. The second day hearing of of the Full Bench of the High Court continued in a row.. At the first session, Government lawyer and Additional Solicitor General of the Supreme Court, Mr. Paramjit Singh Patwala presented his argument before the HC. In order to prove his statement, Mr. Patwala had produced the status of the reservation policy of different States, Rules for appointing the candidates into different vacant posts.
It is to be mentioned here that, Mr. Patwala had continued his argument between 10.30a.m-12.00p.m.
Mr. Permit Singh Patwala, Additional Solicitor General of Supreme Court and Rituraj Biswas is the Government lawyers and Smt.Kiran Suri is the defence lawyer in this case. Though it started on Wednesday, the final judgment is likely to be given on November 21st. The State Government is not hesitating to spend Rs. 1 crore by hiring the experienced and renowned advocates of Supreme Court of India namely Paramjit Singh Patwala, Additional Solicitor General and Rituraj Biswas. Govt has its own Advocate General , experienced lawyers but the Government, especially Chief Minister Manik Sarkar does not seem to have faith on them . According to a highly placed sources it is learnt that CM personally ordered the officers to hire the advocates . Now the question arises, in spite of having various funds of the Government, why is the state government so keen to cut the money from the tax paid by the honest and responsible citizens of the state ?
