AGARTALA, June 9 (TIWN): Tripura has reported first COVID-19 death in state officially. Chief Minister Biplab Deb in a tweet has announced, “Unfortunate to share that Mr. Biswa Kumar Debbarma, a COVID19 patient from West Tripura, is no more. Our Doctors gave their best but failed to save his precious life. On 1st May, he suffered a stroke (CVA) and was a patient of hypertension”. Earlier, another COVID-19 patient had committed suicide in GB hospital but she ended her life before she was tested positive and thus Biswa Kumar Debbarma has been considered as the first COVID-19 deceased. Tripura COVID-19 cases have raised to 841 and already ‘Community Transmission’ has been under deep suspects. Chief Minister Biplab Deb has urged people to follow Govt guidelines properly, requesting returnees to follow 14 days Home Quarantine well. When everyday, there are cases of fresh COVID-19 positive persons reported, on Monday also 38 persons have been tested positive in Tripura.

Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Monday has expressed resentment over public’s carelessness attitude against Covid-outbreak since the beginning of lockdown announcement.

“We closed the COVID-19 chapters with 2 patients long back but again it started firstly after BSF 138 Bn which did not follow national guidelines and then common men started jointly with their careless attitude. We have done our duty by bringing the stranded people to home but now it is their responsibility to follow Home Quarantine, regardless positive or negative reports”, said Deb.

On the other side, BJP MLA cum former Health Minister Sudip Barman has blamed the State Govt for less testing and wrong quarantine method, seeking each returnee’s COVID-19 test and to keep them institutional quarantine till tested negative.
