AGARTALA, May 30 (TIWN): Tripura's COVID-9 cases has raised to 255 as 10 persons more have tested positive in state. Among the newly tested persons, 8 persons are from Bangladesh who recently arrived in Tripura via Akhaura checkpost. They were kept in institutional quarantine till testing negative. Other negative tested people also would remain in 7 days quarantine until final sample testing. However, no Airport passenger was tested COVID-19 positive so far. In a tweet, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, "10 people found COVID-19 #POSITIVE in Tripura today after test of 915 persons. (1 person Gurugram returnee, 8 are Bangladesh returnees & 1 person is from 86 BN BSF). The Airport passengers all tested negative assuring further, "Govt is taking all precautionary measures to keep everyone secure".Tripura ‘s COVID-19 active cases are right now 84 whereas total cases are 255, which is the second in the Northeast. Chief Minister Biplab Deb has reviewed the Health care facilities status.
8 Bangladesh returnees were tested positive on Friday
However, Tripura Govt has preferred Home Quarantine for all returners (except abroad cases). Citing Kerala COVID-19 Health model, Tripura Law Minister Ratanlal Nath on Wednesday has said that even the so called model state Kerala has made Home Quarantine mandatory and the persons going from other states, must be in Home Quarantine according to the Govt’s law there. Minister Ratanlal Nath reacted on this issue referring public led massive allegations, frustration over newly arriving people to state who were stranded outside due to Lockdown and many now tested positive.
