Palatana awaits to welcome Modi as OTPC Unit-II  will be inaugurated on 29th Nov

PALATANA / AGARTALA, November 19 (TIWN): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Commercial Generation of Unit-II of OTPCs 726.6MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine(CCGT) Thermal Power Plant on the morning of 29th November at Palatana. On 29th November morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive at Agartala by a direct flight from Delhi and from Agartala Airport Prime Minister will go to Palatana by a helicopter. After the inaugural programme, PM Modi will also address a public rally to be held inside the power plant, later he will leave for Guwahati. Speaking about the Prime Minister's visit to Tripura Union Minister of State(Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs & Sports Sarbananda Sonwal told TIWN on Tuesday night," The Prime Minister will leave from Delhi in the morning of 29th Nov and after inaugurating the COG of OTPCs Unit -II (363.3MW) in Palatana PM Modi will leave for Guwahati. However, whether the PM will hold meetings with the state ministers, and officials in Tripura is yet to be communicated from the PMO. "

Meanwhile, a highly placed sources in the PMO said that details of Narendra Modi's Tripura visit details will be finalized either on 22nd or 23rd November, even though PM's Assam and rest of NE programmes are already finalized. The Union Minister Sarbanada Sonwal will accompany the Prime Minister along with other dignitaries during the Modi's visit to Palatana. It is also learnt that a team of SPG is likely to have its first visit to OTPC plant site on 21st November and from that very day the entire plant area will be under the control of SPGs .

       During his first visit to the North East Prime Minister is likely to spend 3 days. Each day the Prime Minister will spend the night in Guwahati. This time two day long Conference of the Police Chiefs will be held in Guwahati(on 29th and 30th November) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the police officials during this conference. In his three fays long visit yo North-East Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also visit Manipur, Nagaland etc. Speaking to TIWN over phone Assam BJP State Unit President Phanindra Sharma told this correspondent on Tuesday night," Our PM Modiji will arrive here in Assam in the afternoon of 29th. And on 1st of December he will leave for Delhi. It is a historic moment for Assam that the PM will stay here for three days. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will also arrive in Assam to address in the Police Chiefs Conference . However, we have not yet got the details of PMs visit. Hopefully we will get the details from PMO with in  a day or two."

    Meanwhile preparations in OTPCs Palatana Thermal Power Plant site is now in full swing regarding the proposed visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inaugural of Commercial Generation (COG) from Unit-II(363.3MW). As far as Trial Run of Unit-II is concerned technicians of OTPC & BHEL are now in a position to start Commercial Generation at any time. A highly placed sources told TIWN," On last Saturday night Unit- II achieved the base load generation(362MW) and for 8 to 10 hours the Power Grid of Bongaigaon was supplied 350-355MW. On the early morning of Sunday the load had to be reduced from Unit-I to retain the full load supply from Unit-II."

      At present technical works have already been completed regarding COG of Unit-II. Ahead of PM Modi's visit welding, painting and repainring works too are going on to give the entire plant area a new look. Moreover, the construction agency has already started the preparation of the stage. Police administration too has collected ID Cards and photo copies of all the staffs working in project site. Special passes will be issued against each of the employees just before PM visit.

     The administration has geared up for for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  It is learnt that the police officials and bomb squad are visiting the plant site on a regural basis. Dog Squad too is in vigil in all sensitive areas. Security personnel are kept on high alert. BSF too is asked to keep strict vigil on the border lines. Indeed, from noe onwards all eyes will on Palatana to hear Modi during the inaugural programme on 29th November.
