AGARTALA, May 23 (TIWN): Tripura Congress President Pijush Biswas was attacked at South Tripura in Lockdown relief distribution programmes and after he left those places, the party workers and the people who took reliefs from Congress party were too attacked, many beaten. Nightwide, bike-gangs of BJP reportedly continued attacks on innocent people, creating nightmares, alleged Congress Party. The Congress said, this state has no law and order anymore. Pijush Biswas said that yesterday’s incident at Hrishyamukh has crossed all tolerance, beating the block Congress president in front of police. He said that after such brutal attacks, police did not help to hospitalize them and night-wide attacks continued. Addressing media at the Congress Bhawan aftermath the attacking episodes, Congress President Pijush Biswas said in his statement, “From the very beginning, we are cooperating with the State Govt. At everywhere and in every step we have cooperated with the Govt. In All-Party-Meeting, we raised voice for unity and also I raised objection against attacks on oppositions".
"On that time, Chief Minister Biplab Deb also assured us that such matters will be checked. But even after CM’s assurance, much attacks are happening. So, what can be expected from that ? Either Chief Minister is lying or his party is beyond his control”.
“We tried to help people in all areas. Recently when we were going to Bishalgrah, we are stopped. To avoid any clash, I decided to return. Then, I told CM in All Party Meeting about that incident. CM said, such activity will not be tolerated. There was no reason of not trusting the CM when he had been assuring before all in the All Party Meeting. Then in Ranir Bazar also attacks happened. Bloodshed happened!”, Biswas told media.
“On yesterday, we scheduled visits at Belonia and Hrishyamukh totalling 3 places to distribute relief materials of COVID-19 Lockdown. SP and Police were informed and Police assured full support. Based on police’s assurance I visited Hrishyamukh’s Kailash Nagar ADC Panchayat. In a market area the distribution was planned and organized. But, all of a sudden, BJP’s ADC Council’s newly elected Pradhan, a woman, taken away my chair. I asked Congress members to avoid the matter. The distribution took place with very uncomfortable situations. But after we left, we heard that the people who took food from us, were attacked. Then our Congress workers were brutally attacked. 50 to 60 women stopped our workers. In Hrishyamukh, we visited, where police were present. But there, attackers came with sharp weapon in front of police. No FIR, nothing was lodged. Thus, I have to say, either CM is lying or CM’s words are not bothered by his party. They do not respect their CM. Here CM is giving speeches and under his Home Ministry’s silence, such attacks are going on”, he said.
“I called the SP. But, Police is also playing silent role. There is no doubt that no rule of law is existing in state. In mouth something is said but on field something else is happening. People will make their ultimate decision then if such undemocratic situations prevail for long”, Pijush Biswas told media.
Pijush Biswas also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister asking whether the opposition can distribute reliefs or not among the people.
