AGARTALA, May 11 (TIWN): 6 arrested persons were produced before the Court today in VIP road blocking case over COVID Treatment Centre and after listening both sides, Judge has released the 4 women on bail whereas both men were sent Jail custody till 18 May.

Radhakanta Tiwari, Sudhir Roy are the two persons, sent to jail custody.

The case No-NCC-PS-64, 2020 was registered U/S – 23, 188, 353, 149 of IPC. APP Dilip Debnath said that he appealed to the court for all's custody saying, if the persons are released, then they may block the area again. This incident took place at Kunjaban on Sunday when local people gathered to protest against Bhagat Singh hostel’s COVID Treatment centre.

They demanded to remove the treatment centre from that area. Soon the protest turned worse and police had to lathi-charge.

The 6 persons against whom FIR was lodged are : Radhakanta Tiwari, Sudhir Roy, Laxmi Debnath, Saraswati Goyala, Sakuntala Goyala, Laxmi Sen. However, the police sought judicial custody for them and 2 among them were sent to Jail custody.
