AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): Expressing resentment over local people led mob gathering demanding removal of COVID treatment centre at Bhagat Singh Youth hostel, Barjala local MLA Dr. Dilip Das said that such incidents are happening as people are still ignorant about COVID19 spread and the techniques of virus infecting persons to persons.
After the chaos, where police had to lathi-charge, it was seen that the MLA is telling the administration that these people need to be sensitized more. At the same time, he remained upset over the unprecedented road-blockade by mob breaking lockdown.
Dr Dilip Das also rushed to the spot and talked to the locals. He said, such activities are unacceptable, mentioning yesterday’s Indranagar incident, where local MLA Sudip Barman had to visit after locals were forcing a family returned from Rajasthan’s Kota to leave the area.
A woman and few agitators received minor injuries in police lathi-charge.
SDM Ashim Saha further said, “When police, doctors are working amid so risks, such people, sitting at homes are feeling insecure. How selfish activity they are doing without any physical distancing ? Tension is there..... it is fact, but can they break social distance rules like this ?”
