AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): In the middle of massive spread of COVID19, one positive side can be highlighted that in Tripura, right now, there is no positive case among the Civilians. The truck driver who was tested positive was never in Tripura and only came till Churaibari to drop commodities and now in Karimganj in Assam. Law Minister Ratanlal Nath on yesterday, in the evening press meet clearly said that out of 30 tested positive on yesterday, the truck driver was never in state, but his samples were collected when he arrived and after dropping commodities, he left the State. Later, testing, his sample, he was tested positive.He came till Churaibari, Tripura. Tripura's COVID19 active cases spiked up to total 132 and Govt led by Chief Minister Biplab Deb is fully prepared with further challenges. The infected persons are from BSF 86th Bn.
Chief Minister Biplab Deb via twitter alerted State that 17 more fresh cases were reported in Tripura as COVID19 positive, triggering public caution allover the State. Earlier, in 186th Bn on May 1st, two positive cases were reported first.
As soon as the two persons were taken to GB hospital, Health Dept brought suspected COVID-Positive persons in quarantine immediately. A new COVID centre opened in Bhagat Singh Youth hostel. In addition to existing Quarantine Centres, more 11 additional Quarantine Centres have been identified in and around the city Agartala, Chief Minister of Tripura announced on Saturday.
CM Biplab Deb announced, “17 persons found #COVID19 POSITIVE in Tripura today from 86th-Bn #BSF, Ambassa. No Civilian found POSITIVE among them.Total #COVID19 active cases in Tripura now stands: 132, Transferred out: 02, Recovered: 02”.
It was the same place where on May 1st, two positive cases were reported from 186th Bn. As soon as the two persons were taken to GB hospital, Health Dept brought suspected COVID-Positive persons in quarantine immediately. The many among 86th Bn were also tested positive and right now, 2 battalions are infected in COVID19.
According to Tripura's health officials, headquarters of 86th and 138th Battalions at Ambassa were earlier declared "Red Zone" by the Health Ministry.
The 132 positive cases included 121 BSF men of the two battalions and 11 family members -- five children and six women.
"Most of the infected persons are now under treatment at (state-run) Govind Ballabh Pant Medical College and Hospital, a dedicated Covid-19 hospital," the officials said.
While briefing the media, Education and Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the Tripura government has arranged additional facilities for symptomatic and asymptomatic coronavirus patients.
"The state government will follow revised COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Health Ministry," Nath said.
