AGARTALA, May 10 (TIWN): Tripura BJP Govt’s Health Dept once again under scanner on COVID19 purchase scam after multi-crore Cancer Drug purchasing scam was unearthed after Tripura High Court on Nov 27,2019 (case no - WPC 1028/2019) cancelled BJP Govt’s illegal Tender allotment to Mumbai company Reliance Lifestyle Pvt Ltd. Not only that, Rs 450 crores massive PWD Scam was raised in Assembly last year. Ex-Health Minister, BJP MLA Sudip Barman in his letter to Chief Minister Biplab Deb mentioned that only 914 PPE kits fit for use among 9000 kits, Medical ‘Goggles’ lack protective seals, Hand Sanitizer ‘VENTIZ’ substandard, also mentioned in letter that he called Chief Minister, Chief Secretary on their official phones, but got no response from either of them.BJP MLA Sudip Barman wrote the letter to draw CM Biplab Deb’s attention on various irregularities over COVID19 supply purchases as PPE kit to Medical Goggles, Hand Sanitizers all found to be substandard quality. Out of 9000 PPEs, only 914 found to be fit, rest are found to be permeable to liquid and such permeability is hazardous for Doctors, Nurses in COVID19 treatment interventions.

All procured Medical ‘Goggles’ are found to be unable to provide much required protective shield to Medical Staff at GB Hospital.

Hand Santitizer ‘VENTIZ’ 50 ml bottles contain only 57.68% alcohol which is much less than required percentage. 

Sudip Barman in his letter reminded CM & Health Minister Biplab Deb to follow standards laid by MoHFW ( Ministry of Health & family Welfare), cancel/blacklist these companies, purchase standard supplies from reputed companies, to save the frontline soldiers ( Doctors & Nurses) from COVID19 infection.

2019’s Tripura’s Cancer Drug Scam

In 2019, Cancer Drug Purchasing scam under BJP-Era turns biggest ever Health Dept scam in Tripura.

Tripura Health Dept chosen to compromise with Cancer drugs which are although life giving medicines for them who are on the verges of death. Cancer Drug medicine scam has turned a blot for Tripura's Health Dept history.

After Chief Minister Biplab Deb removed Sudip Barman from the Health Ministry corruptions began in Health Ministry. Mumbai based M/s Reliance life style private Ltd. Belongs to Dhirubhai Ambani group was illegally appointed to benefit from Tripura Govt

Tripura Govt given tender to Reliance lifestyle, cancelling contender Biocon company’s appeal although that company Reliance Lifestyle had no experience in manufacturing Cancer Drugs. 

Tripura Health Department’s corruption under BJP era got exposed in the High Court on November 27. The Chief Justice of High Court A A Kureshi in a hearing restricted the new Company Reliance Life from supplying Medicines for Cancer in GB Hospital, which was doing without the legal permission of Tripura Cancer Hospital. Cancer Hospital had called a tender for supplying medicines in hospital, where the petitioner of this case ( Case no - WPC 1028/2019)  Biocon company had also participated. But as this new company was convinced in lowest rate, the tender was given to them which had no experience earlier in Cancer Drug production. 

After that Biocon company sent a letter to Tripura Health Department stating that the new company is not having the 3 years manufacturing experience, as per rules. But the Committee of Tripura health Department investigated the whole matter and gave them clean chit led the company to file a petition in the High Court.

As the tender was given to the new company illegally, thus the High Court cancelled that tender and given it to Biocon.

Question arises, how an inexperienced company Reliance Lifestyle can get the tender, and even got the clean chit too from the special investigating team of Tripura Govt?

TIWN spoke with Biocon company officials, they were surprised that how a State Govt can award a muticrore contract to a company not even making few lakhs profits, neither any capacity to manufacturing facility ?

Loss Making  Reliance Lifestyle Holdings paid-up capital is only Rs 5 lakhs, barely no income but Tripura Govt awarded them a multicrores contract

BJP Govt’s National Highway PWD Tender Scam

Delhi based Tripura’s corrupt officials and even few politically power top leaders are accused in nexus of the recently exposed national highway tender scam and also cancer medicine purchasing scam. 

In 26 months of BJP Govt along with various other scams as recruitment scams, two departmental scams came out, which have hit the public trust further on the Govt. 

After cancer medicine scam was exposed after a verdict in High Court, now BJP Govt’s own MLA Sudip Barman has raised question on tender-allocation corruption in causing a scam of Rs. 450 cores. The issue was raised after during a debate among ruling party leaders in the Assembly, corruption was exposed after MLA Sudip Roy Barman raised question about handing-over of PWD projects to NHIDCL without any tender caused Rs. 450 crores of corruption.

Addressing at the Assembly, MLA Sudip Barman on January 21 said, “My basic question is, whereas from 2015-16, 2016-17,2017-18 FYs continuously we were conducting the national highway construction, maintenance works by State PWD, but what suddenly happened in 2018-19 after our Govt formed that in an urgent mode, the tenders were handed over to other NHIDCL without tender which is causing massive revenue incomes ?”
