AGARTALA, November 16 (TIWN): The Agartala Sorting in RMS (S) under Director Postal Services (DPS) is facing acute problems due to the negligence of Director Postal Services (DPS) and also due to the lack of the transportation system, said an official of the department.

The official further said that, for the last 20 days we unable to deliver any packages due to the lack of transportation system, which is causing a big problem to the costumers. Every day people came to office to know that when their packages will be delivered.

A truck carrying 500 packages arrived in the office today. But after unloading all the packages in the office the truck drivers always refused to deliver more packages. Instead of delivering more packages the trucks always goes without any loads, which is creating problem for us and the customers are facing the same problem, the source claimed.

The main reason behind this issue is that earlier packages were coming in the state through rail.  But the situation has worsened recently due to the commencement of Mega Block gauge conversion in Lumbding-Silchar section, the source added.

If the government was aware of the situation, so why the government did not took any alternate policy regarding the issue, the source asked?.    

Several times we have meet with the high level officers of the department regarding the issue. But till now we did not any positive response from the high level officials, source added.
