AGARTALA, Nov 16 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar urged the womenfolk to donate blood generously in the state’s voluntary blood donation movement.
Addressing in the inaugural ceremony of eye, blood and posthumous body donation programme organized by Tripura Women Commission (TWC) at Agartala Press Club, Manik Sarkar also laid emphasis on donation of human organs posthumously and informed Tripura Women Commission (TWC) to encourage the people of the state to join voluntary blood donation
The Chief Minister criticized the role of the Department of Health and Family Welfare and said that the authorities should look into the possibilities of deficiency in sensitization among the womenfolk. “The health department authorities and all other stakeholders should take stock of the issue and work on it”, he said.
Sarkar further said that the state has earned a very important position in the country when it comes to blood collection through voluntary blood donation
Of the total requirement of blood during the current financial year (2013-14), 98% was collected through voluntary donation. With the end of the year (financial year) in March, it would be 100%, he added. Saying that the voluntary blood donation
