TECC stages sit-in-demonstration

Agartala, Nov 16 (TIWN): Tripura Employees Co-ordination Committee (TECC) Sunday staged 4 hours long sit-in-demonstration with 14-point charter of demands infront of Agartala Durga Bari. More than 200 members of the committee have participated in the demonstration. At the beginning of the protest, the workers of the committee’s cultural branch performed inaugural song.

The sit-in-demonstration was presided over by the chairman of Co-ordination Committee- Prasanta Kumar Deb. The demonstration was started at 1 am in the morning and continued till 3 pm.

In his address, secretary of the committee- Anjan Roy Chowdhury explained the aim of demonstration and the different ways of sanctioning demands. Besides, he appealed to the state government to take initiative for fulfill the financial demands of the teachers of the state.

The main demands of the committee are: Central pay structure, Grade-pay like Centre, formation of new pay commission, salary hike, creation of employment, control in price rise, releasing of due 43 per cent DA and many others.

According to the TECC, the key of sanctioning demands is protest. With an effort to change the anti-public policy of Centre in the fields of small business, insurance, telecom services and others, the Co-ordination Committee is likely to stage protest against the central government.

The general secretary of CHG- Sandhya Acharjee and the leaders of 10 different organizations under the Co-ordination Committee have delivered their essential speeches during the demonstration.

TECC informed, a proposal taken from the demonstration on the demands of the government teachers, those can be fulfilled by the consideration of the state government will be sent to the Chief Minister.
