AGARTALA, April 14 (TIWN): In Bengali New year, Tripura’s lakhs of daily wage earners remain jobless due to lockdown, economic misery rattles poor families, in spite of Govt & various NGOs efforts, starvations continued among daily wage earners. Tripura has been such a state when without lockdown, people committed suicide in poverty frustration and now during lockdown although Govt is doing at its best, all MGNREGA wages said to be cleared, but time to time with various NGO, unbannerd teams’ visit in various places, the giant of poverty which has gripped a larger section of the population is unveiled, which are horrifying. To manage with the situation, CM announced Rs. 1000 for JHUMIAs and Rs. 2000 for flower-sellers, free ration for 3 months and more benefits are given including the migrant labourers from CM relief fund, but amid all these, recently, while covering tea garden news, workers said that she has received 5 kilo of rice but her son has not and her son with his family is starving.

The same situation is not only among the poor but the small scale businessmen are too hit by the lockdown as neither they have any package, nor they can open their shops. Based on the situation, Tripura Govt is planning for a roster system to open 50% markets, offices.

At the same time, although PM Modi asked authorities not to terminated any employee, but nationwide termination reports are coming out.

Thus, when for Govt employees, this lockdown turned comfortable, for poor, daily worker, even businessmen, the situation is factually frustrating.

Also due to lockdown, the suppress voice of the common men are unlikely to come out, but poor people are waiting for the end of the pandemic, lockdown eagerly than anyone.

On the New Year, when festivals took place in homes and mutton price went at Rs. 2,000, for poor two times meals have turned unmanageable.

Nevertheless, officials like AMC Commissioner Sailesh Yadav who identified thousands of migrant workers including 500 in  Airport, homeless people, got dry rations and two times meals. At the same time, public led drive for poor  are helping majorly to the needy section. Without help of humanity, this lockdown could be impossible to maintain even for a Govt.

3 months free ration is the only hope for needy people’s survival during lockdown, which has extended till May 3rd as the disease is yet at massive spread. Right now, Tripura is waiting for April 20, as after that Govt may relax the markets, depending on the situation.
