Dumboor Tourism Festival will begin from November 15th

Agartala, November 14 (TIWN): Dumboor Tourism Festival will be observed in the State on 15th-16th November respectively at Gandacherra Durga Bari. MLA of 44 Raimavalley, Lalit Mohan Tripura is likely to inaugurate the festival. Among other dignataries, Mr. Shailesh Achariya will be the Chief Guest. Other than that Dr. Milind Ramteke, Mr. Patiram Tripura, Sumati Ranjan Chakma and other guests of honour will be attending the festival.

The ICA Department with the assistance of North East Zonal Cultural Centre has organized this festival. Local political leaders along with other dignitaries will remain present in the function. On the other hand, cultural programmes and Manasamanagal competition were also part of the two day long festival.

It is to be mentioned that a spot with immense tourism potentially in the State is Dumboor Lake. But this potentiality has not been utilizes upto optimum level. In order to promote this spot the State Government has been organizing Raima-Saima and Dumboor Festival. Place of interest, a water area of 41 km, with 48 islands surrounded by luxuriant green vegetation. Water sports facilities are additional attractions. There is a Hydel Project near the lake from where the River Gomati originates and this is called Tirthamukh where on 14 January every year famous 'Pous Sankranti Mela' takes place. The lake is the confluence of rivers Raima and Sarma. Various species of migratory birds are noticed in the winter and it has rich reservoir of natural and cultured fishes.
