AGARTALA, April 6 (TIWN): Healthcare facing severe crisis as basic amenities are missing in State’s largest Govt run GB Hospital. Ongoing severe drinking water crisis forced Healthcare workers erupt in protest today at GB Hospital. Govt run Hospital workers’ protest exposed failing Healthcare under Tripura’s in-charge Health Minister cum CM Biplab Deb. Amid COVID-19 Crisis and infection chances, State Govt Health staffs are suffering due to acute Water Crisis in GB hospital and specially who are in quarters led many health staffs fell sick.

The Health workers have staged Protest amid lockdown as they had no other option except this with the increasing suffering. Question raises, if this is the condition of the health staffs, what are the conditions of the patients and hospital environment ? Also, if the major hospital’s situation so pathetic, what about rest of the hospitals ? 

In various District hospitals also, same situation was reported but since Chief Minister Biplab Deb has taken the charge of the Health dept sacking former Health Minister Sudip Barman from Ministry, the situation has been deteriorated. Infrastructure conditions are also same across Govt hospitals.

While agitating, a woman staff said, “The machine gets damage very often. The day before yesterday, water came at 5 pm and if once the machine is damaged, for 10 to 15 days it does not come back. The person who supplies water in crisis times, does not give water properly and keeps eyeing how much we are using. Only once in a day we are provided with water but still we try to manage”.

“But now, during lockdown, the machine was damaged. We work amid risks of COVID-19 pandemic. After going from here, forget water for handwash, eve for bath and drink, we don’t get enough water. With one car they distribute water to whole quarter. Thus, amid lockdown we are bound to gather here , although Govt has asked public not to gather but we are very sorry that we didn’t leave with any other option”, said the agitator.
