AGARTALA, April 3 (TIWN): Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Commissioner Sailesh Yadav today has informed media that around 2000 migrant labourers and people without ration cards here were provided 7 days ration to fight against starvation amid COVID-19 pandemic led 21 days lockdown. Yadav was addressing media after Umakanta Alumni led donation programme to AMC and it was also informed that anyone can donate in kind to AMC to help the poor. Credible items like milk, soya chunks, rice, daal, oil etc. In last 2 – 3 days totaling around 2000 people were given with cooked and dry ration items. By sending taskforces, the food items are being delivered so that no gathering is occurred at the AMC premises. Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has distributed free ration to daily workers of state and also to them who are stuck in the state due to lockdown along with people here who are actually poor but not having ration cards. By today and tomorrow, more around 1,500 people will be given free rations for 7 days, said the Commissioner.
AMC Commissioner Sailesh Kumar Yadav who took a lead role to identify the homeless people and construction workers earlier said, few workers in Gol Bazar have still works but as soon report will come that they do not have works, then they will be given free ration supplies.
Over 4000 to 5000 cooked food packets are being distributed in urban bodies whereas now dry ration supplies have also been started among 2000 people.
However, from Finance Dept, no financial package has been announced, erupted resentment among poor people who are unable to come out for work amid lockdown. Govt has been requested by common men to give financial help in Delhi model, which already has given Rs. 10000 to 8 lakhs poor.
