CRPF Tripura sector observed Platinum Jubilee

AGARTALA, November 13 (TIWN): Offering reverence to its glorious history and paying rich tribute to its martyrs, CRPF Tripura sector on Thursday celebrated its platinum jubilee at Adaroni Tea Estate. Addressing a press conference at Adaroni Tea Estate on Thursday, CRPF IGP Tripura Sector E. Nirmalaraj said that the CRPF has got a role of assisting the state police in maintenance of law and order situation, besides guarding and securing the National Highway NH-44 in the state Tripura. The force also secured the Ambassa-Gandacherra corridor, said E. Nirmalaraj.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) came into existence as Crown Representatives Police on July 27, 1939. It has completed 75 years of glorious history. And now the force has grown into a big organisation with 4 Zones, 18 sectors, 33 Adm Ranges, 2 RAF Ranges, 1 communication range, 7 ops ranges, 231 Bns., 41 group centres, 15 training institutes, 3 CWS, 7 AWS, 3 SWS, 4 composite hospitals of 100 bed and 17 composite hospitals of 50 beds.

The CRPF had also set up its various organisations here at Tripura like – Sector HQ headed by IG, Range HQ headed by DIG, Group Centre headed by DIG, GC. Besides this there are three more executive battalions deployed for the duties. 71 Bn with its HQ at Khumlung, Jirania is fully engaged in securing the NH-44 by way of ROP duties. 124 Bn with its HQ at Shalbagan, Agartala. 

Beside there has been a significant improvement in the law and order situation in once militancy-infested Tripura. There has been a sea change in Tripura. It has emerged as the model State in the country in countering insurgency. During the year 2011 Tripura received President’s Colour last year for successfully countering militancy in the State. However it is to be mentioned here that Maoist problem is the biggest security threat in the country. Thirty-five per cent of CRPF forces are deployed in different parts of Maoist-hit areas for containing their militancy.
