Agartala, Nov 13 (TIWN): Following the unlawful appointment of an Assistant Professor in Tripura Medical College, resentment is brewing among the government doctors of the state ahead of Tripura State Medical Council election. A person without having required experience and recognized MD/MS degree has been appointed as the Assistant Professor in TMC.

Dr. Biplab Debbarma (MBBS, MD- Radio Diagnosis) was appointed as Assistant Professor Radio Diagnosis department of Tripura Medical College (TMC) by the CEO, Society of TMC and Dr. BR Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital- AK Poddar on November 08.

The sources confirmed, he has received MD degree from Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC), this year. But the MCI recently cancelled the reorganization of PG Radio Diagnosis course in AGMC. Mentionable, his MD degree is yet to be recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Now the question is that, how a MD degree holder of derecognized course has been appointed as Assistant Professor? According to the sources, for the appointment of this post, minimum experience of 3 years as a SR is mandatory. But Dr. Debbarma has no teaching experience.

According to the Vide order no. F.3 (142)-HFW/2012, dated July 24, 2014, Dr. Biplab Debbarma posted as Assistant Professor in the Department of Radio-Diagnosis at Tripura Medical College with effect from November 15, hits year.

Golden Age indeed! Even in the Medical Education Dept of Tripura, a section of comrade officials have been intentionally working to degrade the quality of Medical Education in both Medical Colleges of Tripura: AGMC and TMC.

It is to be mentioned here, one of the most important members of the so called ‘core committee’ of AGMC who was allegedly responsible for the recent derecognization of 6 PG courses at different departments in AGMC, has not only been promoted as the Joint Director of Medical Education for his loyalty to Melarmath but also is an aspirant candidate in the upcoming Tripura State Medical Council election.
