AGARTALA / NEW DLEHI, March 17 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Tuesday slammed BJP led Tripura Govt over its brutality on protesting teachers, reminded the state the whole history including filing of case against 13,000 non-teaching posts when the Left Govt was trying to save these teachers futures. In a blasting speech after he met injured 10323 teachers, Manik Sarkar said, “In Tripura nobody is affected by Corona-virus yet but strange is that in the name of Corona-virus, Section-144 have been imposed. Such attitudes against teachers can not be accepted, but we are with the teachers forever. “The family members are so tensed and Doctors are very sincere, looking after the teachers with humanistic approach. One of the teachers is suffering from blockade like issue, found after ECG but family members are worried. I have told all of them to keep faith on Doctor fully”, Manik Sarkar told media. He further criticized the Health Dept’s pathetic situation, saying there was no pillow available in the hospital and the family members were bringing pillows from home and later Doctors arranged pillows. 10323 teachers were removed by force today morning when they were peacefully demonstrating at Orient Chowmuhani and many teachers were arrested.

When other teachers were protesting then police allegedly lathi-charged on them and left many teachers injured.

“We were always with 10323 teachers. We opposed the decision of the High Court. We went to Supreme Court, spent crores and crores. Again and again we told Supreme Court that if poverty line is not maintained, then 90% teachers will lose jobs. So, poverty line was an important factor for recruitment. On that time, when media asked, we said that we will not allow 10323 teachers to wash away. Thus we found out way of alternative job arrangement via 13,000 posts. Surprise, against those posts also, case was filed. Supreme court gave verdict against those posts which created question in the public mind”, added Manik Sarkar.

“Haven’t you seen the former Chief Justice (Ranjan Gogoi) is going to become Rajya Sabha member……who knows, when will he become a Minister. His last few verdicts have are too controversial nationally…..”, Manik Sarkar told media.

“We are ready to talk to the Govt anytime, but till now Govt didn’t call. But we are always with 10323 teachers. Govt has to take a final decision over 10323 teachers. We want nobody should lose their job and the people who died, Govt must take responsibility to them via die-in-harness. All medical expenses should be carried by the Govt”, Sarkar said.
