AGARTALA, November 12 (TIWN): Few political parties are playing dirty politics in the name of communalism, said Chief Minister Manik Sarkar while speaking in a blood donation camp organized by Baldev Sangha at M.G. Bazaar, here today.

During his speech, Sarkar termed Gujarat as the model state for communal violence, but not a model state for development as blood stains of innocent riot victims were still fresh.

Attacking both the Congress and the BJP for their "so-called secularism", he said BJP tries to polarise Hindu votes, while Congress plays the dual role.

He dubbed the BJP’s politics as “communally motivated” and said, “There is no place for communalism in Tripura because people of all sections have been living in peace and harmony.” He urged the people to shun the BJP and continue their support to the “secular, democratic and pro-development politics” and policies of the Left Front government.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre is proving to be a total failure like its Congress-led predecessor in controlling the rise in price of essential commodities, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has said.

Sarkar also accused the BJP of duping people after coming to power by promising swift interventions in controlling price rise. According to Mr. Sarkar, the farm sector was the worst-hit in the last six months of the NDA rule, which was driven by communal forces. He alleged that there was no let up in the rate of farmers’ suicide in the country. “Only by taking some productive steps, would the farming community survive. Here, we have a government which is least interested in such measures,” said Mr. Sarkar.

The government also failed to strengthen the Public Distribution System and bolster the Essential Commodities Act for the benefit of the common man, he mentioned.

However, Manik's effort to fool common man maynot work as his corruption tainted image getting bigger everyday.
