AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, March 8 (TIWN): Lawyers have kicked off a massive protest today with candles in their hands against Advocate Bhaskar Debroy’s “Murder-by-Negligence” incident on the heart of the capital city and in biggest Govt hospital GB. “Police’s duty is not only to harass innocent people but also they have responsibility to save lives”, said eminent, senior Advocate Purushottom Roy Barman reacting over Police’s paralyzed role by not informing Bhaskar Debroy’s family members when he was sent to GB hospital and his mobile phone was with police in which Bhaskar’s friends called him again and again. Purushottom Roy Barman said, “This is just the beginning of our protest. Last year also, one of our Advocate friends was killed in home but till today, no chargesheet could be filed in that case. I have analyzed that along with hospital, police have equal role of high negligence".

"Police informed fire brigade and then his mobile was seized, where his friends were continuously calling him. Why police could not receive the phone and tell his friends that the person whom you are calling is hospitalized ?”, he said.

“If Bhaskar’s friends could be informed then, they would inform his family. Not only this, Bhaskar had his identity card with him, where his home address was written. This is police’s job to identify any accident suffered person. Police’s duty is not only to harass the common men?”, Purushottom Roy Barman told media.

“The police have murdered him by high negligence. This is simply a murder”, he added.

“We want justice ! We have lost many lawyers already in this state. Last year, one lawyer was killed in his home but no development in that case too. We are unable to stand with head-high before Bhaskar Debroy’s mother. We have no word to show sympathy to her”, said Purushottom Roy Barman.

“We can’t do anything for Bhaskar’s family but one thing we can assure that the persons who are responsible behind Bhaskar’s death, for their punishment we will keep on fighting. Today’s rally is the beginning of that”, said Purushottom Roy Barman.

The young lawyer’s mysterious death has rocked Agartala city on Saturday afternoon. Family members have alleged it is a murder case as his body was not found with any such spot which can cause his death. The lawyer has been identified as Bhaskar Debroy, who did not return home on yesterday after he went to attend a function. He was reportedly brought by Fire Brigade in GB Hospital at around 12 O'Clock and then from Trauma Centre taken to medicine ward but no treatment was done, neither family members were informed.

The deceased's mother said, at night around 12 o’clock her son was admitted in hospital but surprisingly nobody was informed to come to the hospital, neither from police any call was given. Only today morning she came to know from her brother about her son's death. Bhaskar Debroy’s mobile phone was with him where his all contacts were saved. The patient parties who were in that room, they have also alleged that Bhaskar was screaming but no Doctor touched him.
