KAMALPUR, Nov 11 (TIWN): DM Dhalai Dr. Milind Ramteke in a telephonic conversation today assured TIWN that, stringent action would be taken against the corrupt officials and others concerned in the Joshitilla BSF BOP tank collapse incident claiming life of a BSF jawan namely Sriramakrishna. He further informed that, he would take necessary steps after getting the investigation report. And the report would be handed over to him within next four or five days.
On 20th October last, a newly built water tank suddenly collapsed on a bathing BSF jawan namely Sriramakrishna (35) injuring him severely and he was immediately airlifted to Kolkata by BSF’s chopper. After much struggle Sriramakrishna succumbed to injuries there on 25 October last. Then the shuttered DWS officials tried to suppress their negligence and corruption by airing that the tank was not enough strong to resist the outward pressure of water and as BSF filled it with water too early, so the tank collapsed. But the BSF authority made it clear that the pipeline in the tank was provided by the contractor and the implementing officer claimed it safe for use. Local people of Joshitilla claimed that, the work was under quality and the contractor did the work at own will as the implementing officer hardly visited the spot. Then DM Dhalai initiated investigation. ADM and SE( Superintending Engineer) probed into the matter separately. And they are to submit their report shortly to the DM. Now what comes out of the investigation and what steps the DM takes is the matter to watch.
