AGARTALA, November 11 (TIWN): "Anything that goes against the constitution should be strictly handled", said Tripura Governor P.B. Achariya in a press meet on Tuesday at Darbar Hall of Raj Bhawan. On the other hand, the Governor has also expressed concern over the ongoing alarming atrocities, molestation and crime against women in Tripura. While interacting with the media persons, any kind of activities that can harm the society and constitution should not be tolerated at any cost, added the Governor. On being asked about the necessity of CBI probe into this case, the Governor replied it depends on the willingness of the State Government. If the state government thinks, CBI probe is required into this case, then the fruitful step will be taken by the state government. However, on the ongoing issue of atrocities, molestation and crimes on women, Governor had instructed the constitutional bodies like Universities, Human Relation Department, and Women Commission to play a vital role to take stern action against these shameful activities in the society.

It is to be mentioned here that, on Bishalgarh R.D.Block scam, Tripura Opposition Leader Sudip Roy Barman earlier visited the Tripura Governor at Raj Bhawan and highlighted the multi-crore scam.

During the meeting, Barman said that the state government did not take any stern action against the officials involved into this scam. Besides, BJP and Trinamool Congress also submitted deputation to Governor on the same issue.

On the other hand while meeting with the Chairman of TWC, Mr. Achariya wanted to know the role of Women’s commission in this regard. He told that it is the duty of the women commission to protect the rights of women. Like National Women’s Commission, every state has State Women Commission. So, responsibility has been vested on them to bring justice to all the women of the State. It is to be mentioned that Governor had taken proper steps against the inhuman torture on the housewife, Soma Majumder (Debnath) of Chandrapur Tatakalibari area. In addition, on Tuesday, Mr. Achariya had also expressed discomfort that after passing months, no proper action has been taken by the state government against the case of hanging of two tribal girls after they were being raped.
