AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Feb 19 (TIWN): High Court has issued show-cause notice to Tripura Govt over an FIR lodged by Police against one Dulal Ghosh who was attacked by miscreants, then arrested due to his Facebook post recently where he allegedly raised question on cast-system in societies. The hearing was pronounced by Chief Justice A.A.Kureshi. Also High Court has issued stay order on the police investigation for now. After the hearing, addressing media, senior Advocate Purushottom Roy Barman said, “A local BJP leader of Kamalpur, Shaymal Kanti Pal filed FIR against Dulal Ghosh, who is a science propagator and logical citizen. According to the FIR, Dulal Ghosh hurt the Hindu religion’s sentiment and insulted the religion by insulting Geeta.Kamalpur police lodged FIR under 295 Act. As soon as the FIR was lodged Dulal Ghosh and his wide Soma Das were attacked by miscreants. The couple is popular, respected due to their contributions in the society.Dulal Ghosh today challenging the FIR filed a petition under Act 482. It has been claimed that he never made any derogatory remark against Geeta and if FIR is existed then it will be a misuse of the law. High Court has issued showcause notice to State Govt seeking replies in 3 weeks and also no arrest or interrogation can be done for now”.

This incident also erupted protests in the state.

On the background of the case, earlier, Lawyer Purushottom Roy Barman expressed concerned about the active functioning of Communal forces in Tripura along with the whole nation.Barman referred nationwide attacks and murder of Gauri Lankesh like personalities by communal forces. He said, this attack was attack on logical, scientific mindsets.

According to Indian constitution, a person has all liberty to do any positive campaigning and having any faith unless it is harming the society. Based on some social media posts, in attempt to create disharmony the step was taken.

A source said, the BJP or its saffron gang is actually using anti-social, drug addicted useless youths to attack on people’s houses in the name of “teaching” religious ethics and Hindu religion’s campaigning. On the other side, people are frustrated of BJP’s hooliganism in the name of religion whereas true Hindu religion never spare violence.

The miscreants claimed themselves as ‘saviour of Hindu religion’, beaten the couple and their old mother in broad day light, in a counter against social media posts.

The incident took place at Kamalpur. Soma Das is a science teacher and often organize programme to spread awareness against superstitions.
