AGARTALA, November 9 (TIWN): Totally shocked about their political future after publication of massive scams in various centrally sponsored funds CPI(M) state secretary Bijan Dhar recently tried to put the sword on the shoulder of media persons saying," It's not our style to tame the media like Trinamool Congress." Though Bijan Dhar did not categorically said," Beware, media !" , still from his remark it is now clear to all that after 21 years of continuous rule CPI(M) party might have probably realized that this time even the common people have become aware about many of recent scams and in many of the cases the accused persons belong to the 'kitchen room' of CPI(M).

How shamefully a state secretary appeared before media with a specific intention of warn them and that too for discovering and publishing news about corruption, violence against women and involvement of party cadres in such brutal incidents ! Actually in democracy there are ups and downs. Many of CPI(M) leaders in Tripura now seem to think that ruling over Tripura is now their ancestral property. And once the leaders saw alarming signs all on a sudden the party has come up with the policy of 'taming'. Now have a glimpse as to why media has become so proactive about the ongoing situations.

In recent years many incidents occurred that gave an alarming sign to the common mass of this state. From Sabroom to Dharmangar the entire womanhood including housewives, young girls even minor girls are not assured here of protection. Even in broad day light they are either raped or tortured or burnt to death after rape. And in most cases police are unable to take any step as in most of the cases guilties are more or less directly related to CPI(M) party leaders and in some cases with ministers. For example, during the year 2013 in Manik's Golden era, the number of registered cases of violance against woman lodged on different police stations is 1628( source Union Home Ministry Report). But one must not forget that the actual incidents might have crossed twice or even more. But if any such incident takes place in West Bengal , CPI(M) cadres and leaders came out with protests against such barbarism( Paschim Banglar Noirajjya, akrantader pashe Bam front). Unfortunately in Tripura no such movement is seen. Some of instances are given below in which the govt is either failure or remained silent:-

1) In internal audit reports of various departments including RMSA,MGNREGA,SSA,PMGSY, NRHM the amount will easily cross more than 500 crore.

2) In brutal torture of woman namely Soma Majumder in TATA Kalibari , police did not even dare to arrest as party interest will be violated.

3) Inspite of being warned by media regarding probable legal procedures likely to face, Left Govt appointed 10323 teachers. But now the fate of 10323 teachers is under deep sea.

4) In Bimal Chakraborty and MGNREGA incident Manik Sarkar quite shamelessly mentioned that knowing the then Finance Minister ,' I have ordered high level inquiry and soon you have noticed that main accused is under police and judiciary. " But will Manik Sarkar give the reply why no FIR wad lodged against Bimal Chakraborty after 19/05/2014?  Now confirmed reports say that Bimal's exit plan is being readied so that BDO Bimal can come out of lockup and start generating more scam money for his "guru's fund building exercise.

In this case how Manik Sarkar be out of suspect ? Only a few years before the then BDO Bimal Chakraborty spent Rs 6 lakhs from Bishalgarh block to install a statue of swami Vivekananda in Bishalgarh Nagar Panchayat area and Rs 3 lakh more for inaugural programme. During the inaugural programme Chief Minister Manik Sarkar advised the Executive Engineers of PWD, R D to follow Bimal Chakraborty saying," Do you notice what you cannot do my Bimal(Chakraborty) is doing easily and just follow him." All were stunned to hear Chief Minister addressing Bimal Chakraborty as ' My Bimal.'

History tells us ," Whenever a ruler becomes a dictator, he invariably tries to promote himself as dynamic, efficient, honest, transparent etc." Same is here with Manik Sarkar. Very cunningly he has been using a section of media for campaigning his ' honesty '. Even in the month June an order was issued by ADDL Director of School Education Department Dilip Debbarma to 8 District Education Officers to procure bulk of the ' Atit Diner Smriti Katha' a book written by Manik Satkar. Specific instruction was given to spend Rs 3 and more than that from the annual grant of RMSA for purchasing a  totally irrevalent book for the students. Interestingly three officials are now under suspension. But the question that remained unanswered is ," Who instructed Dilip Debbarma to issue this order?"

Media being the fourth pillar of democracy, it has the responsibility towards common, distressed people. No matter what Bijan Dhar and Manik Sarkar would say but Media will be doing their job.  Otherwise, results will be disastrous.
