KAMALPUR, November 8 (TIWN) : Mismanagement and indifference from the part of the higher-up officials created a grave situation for the ailing patients in the BSM Hospital, Kamalpur.

The ultra-sonography machine of the Hospital is out of order for last four days. Besides, at Kamalpur there is no private sonography centre and the same is not available even at District Hospital, Kulai. Hence for sonography the patients have to ply to Agartala. Adding more to it the lack of trained nurse for caesarian section operation, often the patients have to be referred to GBP Hospital, Agartala. At BSM Hospital only two nurses are trained for caesarian section operation, both of whom should be present during the operation to assist the doctor. So, if a nurse enjoys leave, then there is no way left but to refer the patient to GBP Hospital. Again, the NGO appointed cleaners never do their duties upto the mark resulting into making the premise a den of bad odour.

When contacted the SDMO Dr. Narayan Pal admits all the allegations and assures that, the whole matter is informed to the higher up authority and action would be taken soon. However, the condition of the Hospital deteriorates for a long period gradually and during the period the higher-up officials remain mere onlookers.
