Agartala, Nov 8 (TIWN): Acting on tip-off, a joint team headed by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sadar- Manik Lal Das recovered 4 illegal tractors and tractor manufacturing Chinese equipments from a house at Joynagar road no-5, this morning. As a result tension is brewing among the residents of this locality.
Based on secret information, the joint team including Border Security Force, Police, Sub-divisional administration and customs department conducted a raid in a house of one Abdul Haque at Joynagar road no-5. During the search, the team recovered 4 illegal tractors and tractor manufacturing Chinese equipments from a store room of that house. According to the SDM, the owner provided this house to one Abu Salim in rent.
However, all the illegal Chinese goods were seized by the team. The team did not find any valid documents related to the products, said SDM. The customs Department will register a specific case inthis regard.
According to the sources, the Smuggling networks are very deep-rooted and widespread. The smuggling of these illegal Chinese products would,, become a major deterrent to better Indo-Bangla relations in future, the source added. A vast number of smugglers of both sides of Indo-Bangla international border are engaged in illegal trade of as it gives them huge income.
However, the source added that complete fencing of Tripura’s 856 km international boundary with Bangladesh would prevent the smuggling menace in the state. Barbed wire fencing already completed along three fourth of Indo-Bangla international border in state and work of wire fencing is in progress, the source added.
