AGARTALA, November 7 (TIWN): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state observer Sunil Deodar arrived in the state to launch the BJP membership drive campaign, here today.

Launching the membership drive at the BJP state headquarter here, Sunil Deodar said that the BJP had fixed its sights on having a member in each of the six lakh villages of the country, by embracing the diversity of country. The drive which will continue till March 31, 2015, is aimed at enrolling four times the existing party workers across the state.

We will aim at including more youths in our party. It will strengthen our party further. Apart from the usual paper forms, people can also use online forms to apply for becoming a member of BJP," Deodar said.

“The BJP is one of the most important organisations in the world. Yet we have never positioned it like that. To be a member of the BJP is to live the disciplined life it demands. Every member of the BJP is a representative of the people,” he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first one to renew his membership through an SMS. The BJP also launched a toll free number through which people can enroll as a member, and they would be informed of their membership number through a SMS, he mentioned.

It is to be mentioned here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 2nd launched a mega membership drive saying that people from all sections of society should feel they have a representative in the party.  According to the BJP’s Constitution, the party renews the membership after every six years. And the party’s new membership drive aims at increasing its strength four times the current number. And as part of this the BJP state committee this year keeps eye on at least 1 lakh members.

Sunil Deodar also said that the uninterrupted 21-year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated, he alleged.

The state government deep necked in corruption and CPIM is not the Government for the people. The Left Front do not care about peoples and there problems, they do not settle issues. He also criticizes the Left Front Government’s alternative policies and said that those are against common people.
