Agartala, Nov 7 (TIWN): Negligence of Tripura Traffic Police Department causes major traffic jam in the Maharajganj bazaar area of the capital city- Agartala regularly. As a result, the public have been suffering continuously in that area for long time. But the concerned department does not pay any attention to solve out the problem. According to the sufferers, traffic jam causes wastage of time and fuel unexpectedly. But the concerned department is maintaining silence over the traffic jam issue in the whole Maharajganj bazaar area.

A section of sufferers alleged that the concerned department has deployed a vast number of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans to maintain the traffic instead of placing traffic police personnel. The TSR jawans are allegedly continuing harass to the bike riders in the name of checking, they said.

They further alleged that, some of the traffic police personnel allow the loaded vehicle for parking on no parking zone by taking some amount from the drivers on the jam-packed places at Maharajganj bazaar triggering more public suffering. As a result, the fully loaded vehicle regularly load-unload goods from vehicle to shops easily by creating road block.

Following the unlawful activities of traffic police, resentment is brewing among those people who visits Maharajganj bazaar on regular basis for different purposes. Some of the pedestrians raised a complaint that there is no traffic rule getting success in the entire Maharajganj bazaar area. They also said that the same condition is going on near Battala market. 

On the other hand, traffic police department installed many Naka points in the capital city in the name of security arrangements. But the on duty traffic police personnel most of the time allegedly continues to harass the bike riders for full helmet and over loading to take a large-amount fine instead of taking steps against those auto drivers, who carry more than 3 passengers at a time.

Mentionable, traffic congestion is bad enough that there isn't enough road capacity for the increasing numbers of vehicles travelling on them, and rude and aggressive drivers make things even worse. To ensure better traffic management by setting more traffic points thereby reducing travel time, saving fuel and decongesting busy roads are the prime demands of public.

Traffic congestion occurs when a volume of traffic or modal split generates demand for space greater than the available road capacity; this point is commonly termed saturation. There are a number of specific circumstances which cause or aggravate congestion; most of them reduce the capacity of a road at a given point or over a certain length, or increase the number of vehicles required for a given volume of people or goods.
