Khowai, Nov 6 (TIWN): After receiving high alert message from the Centre on militancy issue, security personnel in Tripura carrying out different search operations actively. As part of search operation, Tripura State Rifles (TSR) recovered two walkie-talkies from a jungle at Sengkhaibari area, a rural remote locality of Khowai sub-division, here last night. Allegedly it seems that, few militant groups are still active in the state.
Based on specific information about presence of a National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) militant group at Sengkhari Bari area adjacent to Baijalbari, Commandant of 8th battalion TSR-Dilip Debbarma along with two police officers- Jyotishman Das Chowdhury and Pintu Debbarma and troops rushed there and cordoned off the spot around 7.30 pm, last evening.
During search two walkie-talkies wrapped with a plastic packet were found inside the jungle. While one walkie-talkie handset another is sophisticated which could be intersected interaction between security forces. As a result, panic is prevailed among the villagers of that area.
However, cops could not nab any ultras. It is suspected that militant escaped from the place before troops came on the scene.
It is to be mentioned, recently the Centre highly alerted Tripura and other north-eastern states on militancy issue. According to the NIA report on Burdwan explosion in West Bengal, the militant groups are using Tripura as corridor.
