AGARTALA, Dec 31 (TIWN): Senior, Supreme Court Advocate Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya has been elected as the President of ‘All India Lawyers Union’.

Sr. Adv. P. V. Surendranath elected as all India Secretary of AILU of and 171 members have been selected National Council Members.

Among the National Council members Haribal Debnath, Tapash Dutta Majumder, Smti. Rajashree Purkayasta, Amar Debbarma, Bhaskar Debbarma were selected from Tripura.

Bikash Bhattacharya joined the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in his student life. He is a lawyer by profession. He took over the reins of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation from the outgoing Mayor Subroto Mukherjee of Trinamool Congress party. He was appointed as the Advocate General of Tripura for 5 years. Being a senior advocate he leads various remarkable cases like "Saradha", "Narada sting operation" etc.
